The 2nd Friday event on September 12th, 2025, was a lively celebration of community, creativity, and connection. As a photographer, I was excited to set up a vendor booth to showcase my photography and offer free headshots and portraits to attendees. This event was more than just capturing images; it was about creating lasting moments that people could cherish for years.
The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with laughter, music, and engaging conversations. Local artists, musicians, and vendors came together, drawing in crowds from across the city. My booth was positioned near the town hall, making it easy to greet attendees and invite them in for quick photo sessions.

Setting up the booth was an exciting challenge. I aimed to create a welcoming space that reflected my photography style while being efficient for quick headshots. I chose bright, cheerful backdrops that complemented the diverse personalities of attendees. For instance, the yellow backdrop often highlighted the vibrancy of young professionals, while the green one suited families perfectly, creating a sense of unity and warmth.
As the event began, I was thrilled at how many people were eager to participate. From young professionals wanting to update their LinkedIn profiles to families wanting to capture a moment together, the variety of participants was truly inspiring. Each person had a unique story, and it was rewarding to help them preserve a piece of that through photography.
The free headshots and portraits were a hit! Many attendees thanked me for the opportunity to receive high-quality images at no cost. For example, one young woman was ecstatic to reconnect with her passion with photography as we talked about cameras, lenses and lighting. It was wonderful to see their faces light up as they reviewed the photos on the laptop screen. By encouraging laughter and fun during each session, we captured genuine smiles and expressions.

Throughout the event, I took the time to network with other vendors and artists. There was a strong sense of community, as we connected over our shared passion for creativity. We exchanged ideas and collaborated on future projects, enhancing the experience for everyone involved. Notably, I've made plans to go to the VFW to provide them with photography services and start on my veteran project that will include veterans from various backgrounds.
As the sun began to set, the atmosphere transitioned to a more relaxed vibe. The glow from the modelling light shining through the lantern modifier lured people over and provided light for the next-door vendors. We exchanged business cards and packed up. I was sad this was the last 1st Friday event of the year!
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees expressed how much they appreciated the chance to have their portraits taken in such a fun environment. Many said it reminded them of the power of photography to connect people and create memories. I left the event feeling fulfilled by knowing I had made a positive impact on their experience.

Reflecting on the day, I realized it was about more than just taking photographs; it was about community, creativity, and connection. The joy of seeing attendees happy with their photos was incredibly rewarding.
To sum it up, the 2nd Friday event on September 12th, 2025, was an amazing opportunity for me to showcase my photography while giving back to the community. Offering free headshots and portraits helped me connect with individuals from various backgrounds, and the memories we created together will last a lifetime. I eagerly anticipate participating in more events like this in the future, where I can further capture the essence of our vibrant community.
If you missed this event, don’t worry! Stay tuned for future opportunities to connect and capture your moments. Photography is not just about taking pictures; it’s about telling stories and preserving memories. Let’s create beautiful moments together!
